A Taste of the Pacific Northwest

It's no secret that we love the beers Pacific Northwest--just look at our price list! We work with an amazing group of producers that keep us styled out with a constant stream of exciting new beers and consistent favorites. In the last week, we've been happily inundated with loads of just-in beers from our friends up north. Check 'em out!

Available now:

Heater Allen Bobtoberfest

A truly delicious, true-to-style rendition of the classic amber Oktoberfest lager that hasn't traveled across the Atlantic to get to your glass. Rich and malty, but with a perfect balancing bitterness.

100 on RateBeer!

Now available in 22oz bottles.

Heater Allen IsarWeizen

What's this? An ale from Heater Allen? Indeed, IsarWeizen is a spectacular hefeweizen, based on a recipe from Munich's own Isar Brau Brew Pub. Expect all the banana, clove, nutmeg and bubblegum aromatics you've come to expect in hefeweizen, joined together in perfect harmony.

100 on RateBeer!

Now available in 22oz bottles.

Upright Four

A bright, tart sour mash saison. Lean and drinkable but hugely complex, with white grape, pepper, and grassy aromatics.

Now available in 750ml bottles & 1/6bbl kegs.

Upright Seven

Seven is fermented with the same yeast as Four, but it's a dramatically different beer. At 8% alcohol (to Four's 4.5%), it's much bolder, with even bigger aromatics and an intensity that allows this beer to hold its own at the dinner table alongside Thai and Indian cuisine or fried fish and chicken.

An all-time Lime favorite! Spicy, dry, and floral, with a citrusy brightness. Classic!

A rich, malty beer inspired by the farmhouse ales of Northern France. Originally designed in collaboration with Portland's Cheese Bar, this is intended to be the ultimate accompaniment to a cheese plate, but it tastes great alongside a whole range of rich foods or simply on its own!

De-leite-ful Sour Ales from De Leite

As you might imagine, we've tasted through our fair share of beers at Lime Ventures HQ. So it's always a lovely surprise when we encounter a great brewery with which we were previously unfamiliar. This happened most recently when our crew tasted through the products of De Leite, a Belgian brewery making stellar, under-the-radar sour beers. Before we could even set down our glasses, we were putting together our first order, which we're happy to bring to you today. These are refined, complex beers that you're sure to love. Check 'em out!

A delightful and surprising beer that showcases spectacular balance between bitter and sour flavors. Oak-aged, dry-hopped, and wildly complex.
94 on RateBeer!
Now available in 20L KeyKegs.

Cuvee Fils a Papa IV
A rich, malty beer not dissimilar from the sour red ales of Flanders, with a sharp acidic tang and a vinous, oaky complexity from a stint aging in used wine barrels.

Cuvee Mam'zelle
An intriguing golden sour ale aged in Médoc wine casks. Floral, earthy, funky and layered.

A New Chapter for Brouwerij West

A New Chapter for Brouwerij West

We've been fans of Brouwerij West since their early days, when they were scrapping together fermentation time in other breweries' tanks to make their distinctive, Belgian-inspired beers as a fledgling operation with big aspirations. Now, it's safe to say that the brewery has continued on the right path and are now looking decidedly less scrappy in their new digs in San Pedro. The brewery took over a massive, beautiful, 72-year-old wooden warehouse near the port of Los Angeles, which now hosts all their brewing operations.

The beers from the new brewery have been nothing short of spectacular--they are in some ways very obviously Brouwerij West beers--they're drinkable and elegant in ways that many American-brewed Belgian beers are not. But the beers also taste fresh and new, with modern touches and a colorful personality. A new load of beers has just rolled through our warehouse doors and we think you will like them as much as we do.

Now available:

Saison Extra
Saison Extra has been with Brouwerij West since the early days, but the brewery dubs it an "evolving house saison"--it's a sort of drinkable view of the development of the brewery's style. In its current life, Saison Extra is a fruity but dry beer made with 15% spelt, two yeasts, and a bunch of German noble hops. A delightful beer in all its forms!
Now available in 1/6bbl and 1/2bbl kegs.

Get Back
Get Back is another saison, this time made with Rangpur limes and a bunch of new world hops: Wakatu and Sorachi Ace offer fruity and bright aromatics alongside Styrian Goldings. It's fermented entirely with Brettanomyces for a complex, rustic, layered fruitiness.
Now available in 1/6bbl and 1/2bbl kegs.

Popfuji Pilsner
Malty and satisfying but balanced and drinkable, Popfuji Pilsner offers up everything you could ever want in an unfiltered pilsner. Smooth and refreshing with a touch of bitterness.
Now available in 1/6bbl and 1/2bbl kegs.

Tripel
Another classic from the Brouwerij West stable, Tripel is dense and big, but dry, with a bit more bitterness than you might expect. A very elegant strong ale!
Now available in 750ml bottles.

Two Elegant Ales from The Commons

Two Elegant Ales from The Commons

The Commons Brewery makes great beer with a clear voice. They make stuff that sees the inside of bourbon barrels and beers that have some unconventional additives, but they also bear a sort of old-world elegance not commonly seen among American brewers. Indeed, you're more likely to encounter a subtly-spiced saison from these guys than a tangerine IPA.

Despite the challenges associated with blending new world concepts with old-school sensibilities, The Commons beers always taste cohesive and delicious. We've just received two new ones from this Portland brewery that exemplify their unique style. Check 'em out!

Now available:

Fleur de Blanc
Fleur de Blanc is the Commons' version of a summer seasonal. But you won't find a sadly watery attempt at a Kölsch here, that's for sure! This is a white farmhouse ale brewed with spelt, rose hips, rose petals, and elderflowers. The brewery's expressive yeast kicks up the floral aromatics even further to create a refreshing summer quencher that is bursting with character.
Now available in 750ml bottles & 1/6bbl kegs while supplies last.

Biere de Garde
A rich, malty beer inspired by the farmhouse ales of Northern France. Originally designed in collaboration with Portland's Cheese Bar, this is intended to be the ultimate accompaniment to a cheese plate, but it tastes great alongside a whole range of rich foods or simply on its own!
Now available in 750ml bottles.

Featured Producer: Snowdrift Cider Company

Featured Producer: Snowdrift Cider Company

When we first started working with the folks at Snowdrift, about a year ago, we had this to say:

"We're really excited about this stuff. These folks are making wonderful ciders of deep character, largely from cider-specific apple and perry-specific pear varieties that they grow in their own orchards. Very few producers can say that, and the dedication from limb to bottle shows."

Now, about a year on, we can say that as we've grown more and more familiar with their products, their skill is somehow still increasingly apparent. These ciders are fantastic. In a market awash with so-called "craft" producers that are just faking it, it's nice to know that there are producers out there you can trust to satisfy with every pop of a cork. Snowdrift cider is the real deal and we are so happy to have these ciders in our warehouse.

Now available:

Cornice
A blended cider that gains loads of complexity from rare bittersharp apple varieties and the charred whiskey barrels in which 40% of the blended cider they produce is aged. Deeply complex and satisfying stuff. Winner of a 2016 Good Food Award and Best in Class at GLINTCAP 2016!
Now available in 750ml bottles, 1/6 barrel kegs, and 1/2 barrel kegs.

Dry
A stunning cider made with Washington-grown English bittersweet cider apple varieties like Bramley, Yarlington Mill, and Bulmer's Norman. Delicate and light-bodied but well-structured with tannic texture.
Now available in 1/6 barrel kegs.

Cliffbreaks Blend
Cliffbreaks Blend is a bold and powerful cider with deep bittersweet apple complexity reminiscent of the best stuff you'll find in English cider country. Snowdrift recommends it alongside aged cheeses, steaks, and cured sausages. Their most popular cider!
Now available in 750ml bottles.

Orchard Select
An approachable, semi-dry cider with elegant aromatics akin to honeysuckle and stone fruit. Lovely stuff for summer sipping!
Now available in 750ml bottles.

Red Cider
Made entirely from hard-to-find red-fleshed apple varieties, this pink, crowd-pleasing cider is lush with flavors of watermelon, rhubarb, and summer berries.
Now available in 750ml bottles.

Seckel Perry
A well-rounded and smooth perry made from 100% Seckel pears. Rich and full, with flavors of coconut, toffee, vanilla, citrus, and spice.
Now available in 750ml bottles.

Semi Dry
A bright New England-style cider lightly strengthened with a touch of brown sugar and honey before aging on oak. Expect a lime-like acidity alongside richer flavors of caramel and vanilla.
Now available in 750ml bottles.
