Introducing: Ciders of Spain

Spanish cider is unlike any other beverage in the world. The ciders of Basque Country and Asturias are beguiling, complex, and well-loved around the world. In their home regions, the ciders are seen as a part of daily life, inextricably woven into the culture of these special places.

The folks at Ciders of Spain hope to share some of that culture with the American drinking public by bringing us ciders that reflect the passion and skill of Spanish cidermakers. They are fascinating beverages, expressive of terroir and a mastery of fermentation. We're proud to be working with the Ciders of Spain portfolio for the first time. Fanjul Sidra Natural
Fanjul Sidra Natural is made entirely from sour Asturian apples, which boast a powerful acidity and tannic structure along with complex, tropical aromatics. This is a still beverage that shines with food--think cured meats and rich cheeses.

Guzman Riestra Sidra Brut Nature
While most Spanish ciders are served still from 700ml bottles, Guzman Riestra Sidra Brut Nature is a bit different. It's treated with the famed Champagne method of carbonation and clarification, and it's packaged in elegant 750ml sparkling wine bottles. It's a bit cleaner in fermentation character than what you might expect from an Asturian cider and is at its most satisfying alongside a plate of raw oysters.

Guzman Sidra Natural Riestra
From the same producer comes this more "traditional" Asturian cider--it's still and wild, with bold acidity and a rustic appearance. Made with Spanish and French cider apple varieties for a huge aroma and layered character.

Sidra Avalon
Sidra Avalon is an approachable introduction to Spanish cider, with earthy aromatics and just a touch of perceptible sweetness. A balanced, drinkable Spanish cider with a boatload of character.

Viuda de Angelon Sidra Brut
Another Spanish sparkler! This one is made entirely from earthy, matured cider, refermented in bottle to product a dry, festive drink with a fine, natural carbonation.

Viuda de Angelon Sidra de Pera
Made entirely from pears and the yeast present on their skin and in their flesh, Sidra de Pera is a rich perry with vanilla aromatics and the slightest touch of residual sugar (1.5g/L). Made with the Charmat method to preserve the freshness of the delicate fruit aromatics.

Viuda de Angelon Diamantes de Hielo Frost Cider
Lastly, we have the truly intriguing Diamantes de Hielo, Spain's answer to the ice ciders of Quebec. Made by fermenting ice-concentrated juice, the result is a dense, sweet, and bold drink with sherry-like qualities. Serve with dessert for a stunning end to any meal.
