Blaugies
Pierre-Alex and Marie-Noelle Carlier-Portois were schoolteachers in Wallonia when they first started brewing out of their tiny farmhouse garage in 1988. They focused on traditional saison and local recipes, perfecting four core beers (La Moneuse, Saison D’Epeautre, Darbyste, and La Vermontoise) that express the history of the region (and taste incredible to boot). Their family operation has grown ever-so-slightly over the years to include their son, Kevin, who now runs the brewery with his parents, wife, father-in-law, and eventually, they hope, with his two daughters. The brewery has since outgrown the garage and expanded into a larger facility just next door.
