South Hill Cider

Steve Selin of South Hill Cider has been foraging apples and bottling his own cider since 2003. Their home orchard, just four miles from downtown Ithaca, started out as a conservation effort with a neighbor to keep the property protected from increasing development pressure by plowing the fields and planting to apple trees. In 2014, their dreams of making estate cider were realized when they purchased the land. In addition to the small estate ciders, Steve focuses on cider and heirloom varietals via foraging for wild apples in the forests of the Finger Lakes and collaborating with neighbors to maintain forgotten and abandoned orchards. He lets the ciders shine through a traditional, hands off approach. These techniques make for markedly complex and gorgeous ciders, shining both as single varietal and blended releases.
