It’s not every day that one encounters beer made in Estonia. In fact, before Põhjala (say “poy-hya-la”) came into our lives, I’m not sure any of us here at Lime Ventures had ever seen Estonian beer in the US. However, it didn’t take us long to figure it out the nuances and distinctiveness of Estonian beer, based on the quality of Põhjala’s offerings. Their brewing inspiration comes from their love of nature and cuisine, and that’s reflected in the refined beers they make, which often feature locally-foraged ingredients and are built to pair brilliantly with food.
